In 2025, the World Gynecologic Oncology Day project went viral. Our messages about gynecologic cancers and against stigma were shared by artists, writers, singers, and poets as well as patient advocates and health care professionals. Our celebration partners incorporated these ideas into their own local and online awareness activities with a creativity and passion that is truly inspiring. We are proud the project has become so visible!

Speaking out about the burden of stigma in gynecologic cancers continued as the year's overarching topic. But just as important were our project's base topics of gynecologic cancer prevention and early detection. Many of our celebration partners focused on raising awareness about symptoms, the fact that some cancers are preventable by vaccination, and that many cancers can be treated better when diagnosed early enough. They stressed the need for screening, and explained facts about the HPV virus and what vaccination means for their communities. Together, we worked to communicate that stigma and shame are factors that may delay or prevent people from attending regular check-ups and screening.

We are grateful to our many campaign partners, who organized very different activities with the same goal - to show support for gynecologic cancer patients and save lives. We are touched by the variety and thoughtfulness of their activities!

This year's events included:

  • Webinars for patients and communities
  • Informal "coffee & talk" sessions
  • Fundraising events held in hospitals
  • Golf and football tournaments
  • A chess tournament
  • A sailing exhibition and boat trip
  • Exercises in parks and on beaches (tai-chi, yoga, running, Nordic walking...)
  • Horseback riding, bike riding, and walks
  • A book launch for a volume of poetry
  • Art workshops
  • Sharing songs about stigma-free communication
  • Dancing – both the Dance 4 GO Day with shared choregography (and so much more!)
  • ....and many social media posts, newsletters, TV and radio interviews, and press conferences from around the world!

Stigma should never get in the way of cancer prevention.
